Holding my car ransom

Itook my car to carmax the place i bought the car for check engine light they said it needed to go to transmission shop they took the trans out of car and said it needed to be replaced for $ 3,200. i refused repair now they said the trans cant be put back into car and i would need to tow it out and pay storage fees what are my options.
