Home Inspector Invasion of Privacy

I am selling my home. A buyer's home inspector opened a shop-vac and hinted that the presence of moisture in the shop-vac may be attributable to a moisture problem in the basement. It was in the written inspection report. This was complete conjecture as there is no moisture problem in the basement. This was not the only instance of guess work in the inspection report.

Question: Is opening my shop-vac legal? Is it considered an invasion of privacy? I would consider it similar to looking through my drawers or trash to find questionable receipts.

Your advice is welcome.

A: Yes and yes; it is certainly an invasion of privacy. Perfectly legal, though.
