Pennsylvania: I have a previous felony which I served 7 years and 3 days on a 3 to 10 year sentence. I was released in 2000 and maxed out on Sept 15, 2003. I have had some allegations made against me for the same time of crime. I was arrested and placed in the county jail. At my preliminary hearing (hich was waived in order to be released on unsecured bond), there was no mention of house arrest. I was released the next day on unsecured bond. After being home for about 2 weeks, the probation officer that I was told that I have to check in with twice a week called me and told me that I was supposed to be on house arrest and asked if I remembered anything being mentioned about it at the hearing. I told him nothing was mentioned. It's not that I don't remember - it's that nothing was mentioned. I have NOT been convicted of the current charges, however I was put on house arrest. (I don't have an ankle bracelet or anything). I am not even allowed to secure employment. I was told to cancel a job interview that was scheduled for the next day after I was told I was being placed on house arrest by the adult probation officer who I have to call and check in with his office twice a week. My question is this: If I have not been convicted on these charges, can they legally put me on house arrest?
