I won a suit against a contractor in Magistrate Court for $14,000+. I represented myself. At the time of the judgement the defendent was acting like he wanted to settle so when the judge asked me if I wanted her to set a monthly payment I said, "No". As it turns out he really has no intention of paying. I have filed a FI FA but it really hasn't produced any results.
What can I do to collect this debt? Can I ask the judge for a hearing to subpeona the defendent's tax returns and bank account's? I would also like to ask her to set a monthly payment. I am willing to settle for less than the total amount but so far I haven't been able to apply enough pressure.
