A '98 HD, purchased new in Florida, ends up in Texas. The "owner" hasnt made payments for about 8 eight years now and the bike has been sitting in a garage for at least the last six years. Owner has no intention of making good on the note. The bike is in good condition and I'd like to get title to it if there's a way. I looked up the VIN on the Florida DMV website, which lists the lien holder as a bank in Minnesota. Any advice on how to proceed?

You can't get title until the lien is cleared. I'm sure the bank is looking for their collateral. Call them and see if you can make a deal with them. They will probably take 15% or so of what is owed if you try.

Thanks for the response. I figured as much. Can you offer any advice on what to say when I contact the bank?

Just simply tell them there is an abandoned bike that they have the lien on. Ask them if you can buy it from them.
