How he measured my speed not on ticket

I recently received a speeding ticket in NJ. The ticket does not indicate how the police officer determined by speed (e.g., pace, VASCAR, Radar). Do you think I can I argue successfully that I can't reasonably mount a defense against the ticket if I don't know how the officer determined my speed?

I have gone to court 3 previous times on tickets and gotten out of each one for various technical difficulties similar to this one.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you are more experienced in NJ courts than anyone that follows this board. After you try you will know the answer.

In some states it is required to be on the ticket and in others it is not. When you find out about NJ please post back.

Pat -- Per your request, here are the results from today's court appearance. I showed up in my best suit. The officer was there and made eye contact with me. The officer asked if he could see me outside. He reviewed the details of the case with me (which I confirmed), and he asked what I wanted -- "a deal with no points?" I replied in the affirmative, and he indicated he would talk to the prosecuter. 10 minutes later I had my deal with the prosecuter. Although I had to pay a small fine and court costs, I got no points and was quite pleased.

Good job. That is exactly why I always recommend that you should contest a ticket. Reductions are normal if you show up on your court date although it sounds like you did much better than normal. Officers don't like to spend their time in court testifying and will usually agree to a lesser charge if they know you are prepared and there were no issues during the stop.
