My Aunt has been receiving calls from a Collection Agency everyday from 9 - 20 times a day. It's for a bill that she does not owe and submitted to the company's fraud division. This has been going on since April 2004. She has told them for the first few months that it is with the Fraud Division. Now, she has given up and just tells them that there is no one here by that name. I told her that they are not allowed to call that many times a day and that she needs to report it but we are not sure where to go. This company has even called at 5am!!! The first phone call starts at 5am and they continue all day long. I have witnessed it. They even call her cell phone. What should we do?

Did we answer this here? I might do the same procedure if it is not the case. If it were me, I'd file a complaint with the state attorney general. Not to slight the good people who do run legitimate businesses, but many of these people at collecitons agencies are paid on commissions on collections and are notorious for going over the bounds of reasonableness in order to make money. It's sad that this greed factor can frequently create situations where people will dispose of the law... good luck and let us know how things work out.
