I am wondering when the court sentences a first time offender with a conditional discharge, how much of an impact does it have on finding employment after graduation from university?
It is a non-violent crime of trivial nature.
I understand that in Canada a discharge is not a conviction but will also result in a record, but will it have the same impact as a regular criminal record.
Also, when the court sentences someone, ie in this case a university in his/her final year, will they take personal factors into consideration like age, no prior record etc..?
