I was involved in a minor accident where the tractor trailor I was driving hit a guard rail. My companies policy is to drug test after any accident and I was given a non DOT drug test. I had quit marijuanna years ago but had a momentary lapse of judgement and used 4 days prior and traces were apparently still were in my system, I was in no way intoxicated at the time of the accident. I had been tested a week prior and thought I was safe but now know that once you quit thats it. I hadn't anticipated what could happen but should have known better. A little more than 2 weeks later I was called in and terminated for a positive test result. Due to working in a safety sensitve position my employer said they would inform any future employers of the positve test results. I screwed up and now am without a job, unemployement, and need to know what steps I can take to become employable again. I also need to know how this will affect my CDL and if my positive results will be forwarded to the department of transpotation. Though I was a dependable, hard working employee my previous employer has given me no advice or help. Any help that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.

Come on, none of this nonsense will help.

This is like robbing the bank where you work and saying the till had TOO much money for you to remain honest.

You KNEW the rules.

You admit to breaking them.

Even if you didn't admit, the drug test told on you!

Some people claim they are addicts and sometimes the world goes easier on them after time.

I'm not saying mind you, I'm just repeating what I've heard and observed.

When people COP to being addicts, take treatment, apologize, OFTEN they are forgiven.

I'm sure you can think of a politician (or a thousand) or a celebrity (or a thousand) or an athlete (or thousands) that went this route and they're back on top!

Hmmmmmmm............................................
