I am needing to file my response to a Petition to determine paternity and for related relief. I have been trying to obtain an attorney for the past 2 1/2 weeks so I may be assisted with my case however; I was not approved for their services and was informed this past Friday that I was denied. There's a forms clinic in our courthouse that offers assistance with filing out such petition. Attorneys volunteer their time so days and availability is very limited. I have visited the forms clinic on several occasions only to return home empty handed. My response is due this Thursday but I am apprehensive about submitting my response without the assistance of an attorney. Is there a motion in Tampa, FL that I can file to have my deadline extended?

Is that deadbeat male stranger bringing this action?
Or, are you bringing this paternity action?

If you're bringing it, stop.
Don't do it.
You're buying BIG trouble if you do.

If that deadbeat male stranger is bringing this action, don't delay it.
Just go into any lawyer's office and ask anyone to help you with the response.
Tell them your story.
Tell them you are a single mam.
tell them you don't have nay money.
Tell them you love your child.
Beg them to help you.
Don't give up, just do it.

Yes, he filed after I granted him permission and even went with him to have the test done. He said he wanted the DNA for clarification of doubts that he had and then turned around and used the results to file for establishment of paternity and for child custody against me. I am doing everything under the sun to retain an attorney but w/o any money, help is limited and Pro -bono cases are not an option anymore. I called the Clerk of the court and she stated that there is a form/motion I may file, she referred me to see the legal adviser to find out what that form is. Step 1 has been completed, now step 2 finding transportation. I will NOT give up on my son, I just need to buy some time so I can have an attorney assist me with my paperwork...
