Last fall I got fired for passing merchandise over totaling 200.00. I signed a paper and paid all restitution costs. I was told if I just admitted (with no visual proof) that it would go much smoother. Obviously I was scared and signed the paper, wrote a statement and left. I recently applied and got hired at a new job and they use the national retail theft database. I came up and was in turn let go. I was told after 7 years this can be removed. I have always worked retail and used poor judgment once. How would I go about getting this off my record? And if its in the NRTD is it only on a criminal report? Thanks.

Would I be able to get a lawyer to get it expunged since it was a misdemeanor? I am confused as I don't remember signing anything saying it would go on a record. Would this show up in a standard background check as well? Thanks!

The retail theft database. So just because I am on there does not mean I have a criminal record? I didn't go to court or anything. I feel clueless because I just signed papers and wasn't really told much. How do I find out if I am on any other records?

If you never went to court then there is no criminal record. Therefore the only record one can view of this incident is through retail theft database

*big sigh of relief* Since I am finishing my degree in nursing.
Alright and I can not get it removed unless I ask the company to do so or just wait the 7 years, correct?
thanks for you help.
