How to help a mother to have full custody?

My friend has just been through a mess of a divorce. The worst thing after the divorce is that she did not win in the custody battle in order to take care of her only daughter who is just four years old. When she talked to me about the divorce, I thought that she would be able to take care of her daughter because the girl is too young to live far from the mother. Unfortunately, her husband won custody in the court.

Isn't it true that a mother usually has more chance to take care of her child after divorce since the child is still really young?
Can she do anything in this case to be able to have custody of her daughter?
Is there any extra court to reverse the custody right even when the custody was already announced?

Didn't you post a question about improper words directed at you? Now you think it's ok that a mother should be considered the best parent to raise a child? No it's not true..... both parents abilities will be judged. Which ever parent can provide a better enviroment for the child should get custody. You can appeal almost anything......

I'm sorry, but why is a 4 year old too young to not live with the mother? Why should Mom's gender be the deciding factor?

That's hogwash.

Dad got custody because he's the best parent for the job, apparently. Mom can't appeal just because she doesn't like the result; there needs to be an error in law.
