Thank you in advance for any information I can be offered.

My step dad passed away about 8 years ago.
My mother passed almost 3 years ago and did not leave a will.
My half sister had always lived with mom and dad. My brother and I live in the US and my brother wants his part of the house. I do not want anything. I just want out of the whole mess.
What can I do legally? Apparently, we were supposed to have taken care of this issue 6-9 months after our mother passed away because there are time restrictions on accepting or denying an inheritance in P.R. Puerto Rico inheritance laws is forced heirs.

Thank you,
Elizabeth

If you've inherited real estate, you can simply create a quitclaim deed, and gift away your share/portion of any real estate you were bequeathed. Examples of quitclaim deeds, even templates of same, can be found all over the Internet.

Legally, you can't inherit that you know nothing about.
You reside in one of the 50 states. PR is hundreds of miles off the US southeast coast. Ignorance can often be a virtue.
