How to take my name off lease?

Hello,
I plan on living with 3 other girls as of Nov. 1st and so we haven't officially moved in yet. We signed the lease not 1 month ago and I need to back out. We have a co-signer who alone can afford to pay for the rent of this townhouse.

Is it possible for me to go to the landlord and take my name off the lease?

Your landlord has to agree to letting you out of the lease and you should get that agreement in writing....your landlord does not have to remove you from the lease and may insist that you fine a replacement tenant before being released of any obligation,
