How will this case play out before the judge?

I run a taxidermy business. I mounted a clients trophy and called several times trying to have the balance sent so his mount could be finished and shipped to him.
I first contacted this person in early Spring of 2007 trying to get him to send the balance he owed on his mount. He refused saying that he wanted me to ship it first. I told him that I only shipped the mounts, as specified in our signed agreement, after payment was received. Severalmonths went by, with him finally calling me again in late summer of 2007.The same discussio was repeated again. Finally in the early winter of 2007 he said he was going to send the payment out. It never arrived. he called backl again in Late January and in Late February of 2008 it finally arrived.
I had moved to East tennessee, over 200 miles away and when I got a free weekend from work made the trip back to my previous home and picked up his mount and brought it back to East Tennessee. Due to my working out of state I finally shipped him his mount in late April...roughly 7-8 weeks after payment was received.
3-4 days after he had signed and received his mount I received a summons to court for the amount of the taxidermy work, plus his lost wages and gas money for traveling to have the summons sent.

I find it mind boggling that this man thinks he has a case considering I let him jerk me around for nearly a year with him refusing to send payment for his miunt that I had already spent alot of time and money on.

Can I file a countersuit for storage fees..which was listed at my shop on the wall, of $2/day after 30 days with no claim on the mount?

What are my options and how will this most likely play out in court?

I hope you have the original receipt, and a picture of this sign. You can file a countersuit, and include any expenses you want, but be reasonable. It is not his fault you moved and left his prize behind, (I guess this could delay the check also). If your facts are correct he has his mount in good condition, then he is out nothing. File your counter claim for storage fees, and good luck.
