Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft how will this impact my future?

I recently got caught shoplifting at a store.

It is my first offense of any sort, and I have passed background checks before. I live in NY and am 20 years old, I work and go to school as well. When it happened I was brought into the security room, gave everything back and had to sign papers stating I acknowledge the fine that I will receive and that if I go there again I'll be arrested for trespassing.

The guy told me that it's a policy to call the cops no matter the amount stolen, but it had been an hour and nobody came. He called the department and cancelled the request, so I did not speak to any police. He said I will receive the fine in the mail within two weeks, which I should pay.

As far as I know that will be my only punishment, other than a guilty conscious. I would just like to clarify what will be on my record, or show up on a background check, if anything, in the future. Also in what other ways can this effect my future? Thank you for your response

Redacted the name of the STORE to protect your rights!

Some say that if one pays the demanded amount, that ends the incident.

If you choose to pay, wait for the letter, send a money order to the person soliciting you, it should all be over.

Also, stay out of that store anywhere in the US.

Your personal details have been entered into a retail theft database shared by many stores, so for your benefit, don't ever attempt this anywhere. If you do, no breaks will be granted.

It is said, that if your name appears in that database, obtaining employment in retail is almost impossible.
