I co financed an automobile with my husband. Because I had the good credit, he is the co-borrower. He made 2 car payments and has now left me. I don't know where he is or where the car is. I just received a notice telling me that the care is in default. What can I legally do to get him to turn the car over to the finance company. Without going in to detail, I am going to file bankruptcy and I don't want this to negatively effect the process.

There's very little you can do without knowing where the car is located.

So, file your BK, and include the car among the debts.

That way, the lender will use their resources to locate and eventually repossess the car, when you don't reaffirm the debt.

Your BK lawyer will advise you in more detail.

The finance company may not take the car back. They expect you to pay. You will likely have to figure out how to include this in the bankruptcy.
Is the car also registered in your name? If so, if you find it feel free to take it.
