I moved out of the city to the suburbs in pa. I am being fined for 3 days of unexcused absence days i plead guilty to two of the charges of compulsery of attendence but one of them i am not. The reason why is because i the gaurdian and my spouce and the two children of school age moved out of the city to the suburbs. The charge was for the first of april and i moved on the first of that month. I signed the kids in to school two weeks prior and i notified the school district about it as well.

The fine is for 157.87 and the court costs with the fine. The child has adhd and altisum and in counseling the counseler was not budging on the times we wanted for after school because of the city school district complaining i was sent a letter 2 days before i moved saying due to unlawful excuses there is 30 days unexsplained i wrote the school counseler a letter a heart felt aplogie and told her that the kids are moving to a new school district with a busing system. The officer still wrote me a fine because the elementry school handed it in anyways.

I have a lease of my new home and the enrollment paper that was copied by the school district when she was enrolled in to the new school district. I am writing to know is it still valid to fine a parent that moved to another school district. I was notified about the unlawful attence i have that paper but can't find it because of moving to a new house out side of the city limits. I am exsplaining on my part that the first of the month i moved to a new school district on the first of the month and the kids were with me moving.

What do i need to bring with me to court since i pleaded not gulity in this trauncy case. I know if i lose i have to pay but i still want to plead to the courts that i feel that it is not fair for being fined for the kids not being in school for attendence for the first of april when i moved.

I also have my utilite bills as well should i also bring those to the hearing as well.

The school district want to rake me for all it is worth i feel that i am not being justified in this matter because the lebanon city district justice is already decided and i feel that i have evidence that proves i did move on the first of the month.

Any one please let me know what i need to do other then to show up for court will i go to jail or will the judge let me go and let me pay the fine or can i reappeal. they set me up a court case and i am scared. can i decide to plead gulity to save me from a court case and not have a fear or worry anymore or do i still have a good chance to prove my self in this matter.

any suggestions?
the child is only 9 years old in 2 nd grade. My husband convienced me to plead not guilty about this case for the first month of april because we moved away to another home in a different part of the county out of the school district.

We moved because of the difficulties with their health and the school district non busing policies . we had to walk the girls ages 6 and 9 seven blocks to school. Because the school district in the city does not have a busing program.

Does anyone have a idea should i be scared or no. no matter the out come i am sure the courts already decided my case and will make me pay.

I am scared of the jail thing. this new school that they attend now is a busing program and the kids are going everyday and enjoy their new school and their teachers and their principle and their bus driver they are not even given me a hard time abiut getting to school like before with the constent teasing and harrassment of the kids in their class room.

any suggestions will help me out thanks

Just to claify your post:

Are you stating that your special needs child has been out of school for a total of 30 days of unexcused absences?

If the above is correct...Why was your child out all of those days?

she has adhd and altisum the counseler was not sheduling the dr's appointment for after school and i had to take her for testing and for medicine checks with the phyiatrist half the time she was not writting notes and also the child was sick from exspore to mold that was in the home that we moved from the child was becoming ill from that and the dr's either didn't wrote me a note or forgot and didn't fax it over to the school district.

everytime she was out i had a note the unlawfull excuses she had were from not having a note due to the dr failing to give it to me after a few calls to them.
and now i moved i was charged for the last day that i was in that area and i moved out of the school district, i have the lease from my new house and the enrollment from from the new school district.

Can i still be charged from compulsery of attendence when i moved on the first of the month and i told the school district 2 weeks in advance about this move. and they had the truency officer still write it up as a unexcused absence when i live 10 miles from where i used to live at.
We moved and we gotten a new family dr and counseler and a new dr for her medication she is on as well.

since we moved to the new location there is a bus that gets them she is taken by the busing system instead of walking 6 to 9 blocks to school with no crossing gaurds in the city area until you are a block to the school we are in the suburbs now not the city.

can i still be charged and should i noterize the lease for court that is already signed by the new landlord and should i get the enrollment paper noterized that i gotten a copy from the school adminastration office that they attend school now at.

Any medical professional that your child saw, would be an excused absence.
All you need to do is request that EACH medical professional that saw and/or treated your child provide you with a letter documenting the dates the child was treated and/or seen.
You may not have every record, but the medical professionals will.
A telephone request to their offices, should yield you a signed letter (on their letterhead), that you can present to the school and/or the court.
If you accomplish that, many of the unexcused absences will magically become medically excused absences!

You can most likely bring a copy of the lease for the court to review.
Unless the court requested it to be notarized, you don't have to go to all that trouble.

Yes, a copy of the child's current school schedule will most likely suffice for the court's purposes.
A letter from the current school principal, indicating she is enrolled in good standing might also be icing on your cake!
