I broke my partner's computer

I broke my partner's gateway comp. last night. She wanted me to buy her a new computer the same brand. However, she bought the computer from her cousin's who was leaving to go home to the philippines. She paid $400.00 for it since her cousin used it a month or two. Her cousin bought the computer on clearance as well around thanksgiving. If I do buy the computer now, it actually costs more. Should I buy her a new computer that costs more, or should I pay her the $400.00 that cost her to buy it from her cousin. I want to do the right thing, please help me.

In most cases the court would rule that you owe her the fair market value of the computer.
