Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft i got caught stealing beer in utah

I am 18 and my first offence, i never stolen beer before that prob. why i got caught. i stole five 30 racks, but when the police came, they only gave me a ticket for stealing or shoplift for 120 dollars worth of alcohol and didn't give me a ticket for minor possession of alcohol, and they let me go till my court day, what am i look at for my punishment
 
Its not what are you looking at but what can you get far as a deal goes. Your best outcome would be Diversion. Talk to your Attorney and ask if this option is available to you
 
Diversion programs vary but in short they work like a guilty verdict. However once you complete program your case is dismissed. This means no record! If you cannot afford a Lawyer request a Public Defender when you go to court and plead not guilty. While you wait for court start calling Lawyers many offer free office visits take them up on this. This way you can have some knowledge before seeing Public Defender
 
i was reading that that the Diversion is only for under age ( under 18 years of old). but i am 18 years of age.
 
There are Diversion programs for adults. As stated thes programs vary so you need to ask whne you meet with these Attorneys
 
Ok, so when i go to court plea not guilty and request for a public defender. What is a public defender?

Then go to get advice from attorney offices. I mean i have a week and a half till my court date should i go to the attorney offices now get the options I have and plead guilty or wait to get a public defender.
 
In order

. Start calling Attorneys and meet with as many as you can. Ask lots of questions and take notes

. Go to court plead not guilty and request Public Defender (Lawyer)

. Talk to Public defender about Diversion
