I am in Georgia. I sold a "92" Truck to a young couple with 3 kids. They drove it over 20 minutes. It has 218K+miles. I told them the Trans. leaks, but I just keep fluid in it, and I also put heavier weight oil in the engine, due to leaks. ( I was told to do this, due to mileage). They called me yesterday and said they took it to Aamco Trans, and was told it needed extensive repairs. Now they want to give me the truck back and me to give them 1/2 of the money back. I was honest with them, and thought he would understand the truck was worn. I am a woman, and thought he would have more mechanical knowledge than me. Anyway, I've spent all but $300 of the $1100.00, and I don't know what to do. We wrote a "AS IS Bill Of Sale and we both have copies of it. I just want to do the right "Moral" thing, even though I sold it "AS IS". If I come up with some money, and they give me the truck back, is this like I am admitting guilt? I just don't want to hurt anyone financially, and they can't fix it now. What can I do?

Legally you should be fine tell them to pund sand. I do wonder though how you got $1100.00 for a truck with over 200,000 miles on it a severe problems!? I not saying this but it suggest you were either very very naive of vehicles or you misled the buyers

Thanks. It was a 4x4 ext cab, and I was told that was a good price. I was honest with them, but I haven't driven the truck in several months. My son put it on Craig's list for me.

Seems like an awful lot of money for a 16 year old truck with severe problems. Regardless if you are naive or scammer. The "as is" should cover you. You owe them nothing

Don't worry about it. I play with cars on the side, and still own the same '92 Z71 Chevy I graduated high school in (pushing 300k mi.). Oil, and trans. leaks are normal wear/ n / tear on any vehichle. Weather you sold it just in time, they didn't keep the fluids up, or overloaded the towing capacity (both kill a trans quick) you are in the clear. I changed many trans' $350 from junkyard, or $1200 rebuilt, plus labor. Unless you knew the trans was bad, leave the problem you sold alone.
