I want 1yr lease, they insist on a 2 year lease

I sent my lease renewal in on time. I sent the rent deposit check separately with "rent deposit supplement" written on it to them on time as well. They used the rent deposit towards my rent and not as the rent deposit supplement and gave me a 2 year deemed lease instead of the 1 year lease I requested. Is there someone who can further look into my situation? How can I change the 2 year deemed lease to a 1 year lease? This is a rent stabilized situation in Queens NY. They also didn't send a lease rider with the current lease, is it required?
