My husband and I went on Vacation June 3, 2014 We returned July 2, 2014
Prior to leaving I called the electric company and let them know I would be on vacation a month. Also I paid my electric bill via the Electric Company Website. We also got a confirmation code.
When we got home I learned my electric was shut off and ruined about 500.00 dollars of meat and ruined my chest freezer-Smells like a dead body.
I went to customer service they never helped Then I took it to Supervisor she said they don't take debt cars mine is also a Visa. Then she said I didn't put the numbers in right I needed a routing number and account number. So I went to their website and it clearly states they take debt and visa.
I also took it too the Big guy of the Electric Company. No help!!!!
They charged us reccconect fees and a check charge for a returned check -Mind you it was a visa and they never did submit to my bank as I have overdraft protection.

I feel they owe me all the charges back and at least a new freezer any help will be appreciated!!!!

Regrettably, you have very few options, except to heartily wolf down the slop they serve.
Seriously, you have no proof that you paid.
For any of dozens of odd reasons, your payment wasn't accepted.
You went through the motions, no doubt, but something went wrong.

You can write letters of complaint to your elected state officials (congress and senate), the governor, and the appointed head of the agency that regulates utilities.

Here is a link to the regulatory agency's website. You can file an online complaint there. :

You might also see if your homeowner's policy covers stuff like this. You never know until you ask.

You need to use your confirmation code to review the information you submitted and determine what the error was. Just because you got a confirmation code dis not mean the payment was processed correctly- it only means information was received. They are telling you it was incorrect information and the payment could not be processed. That would be your error, not theirs.
