I moved into my new apartment 10 days ago. When I signed all of the paperwork I also signed a document stating that I will follow the rules and regulations of the community... One of the rules stated that no noise will be made of any kind to disrupt the peace of the community. WELL, barely a week into living here the neighbors below me decided to have a public screaming match in the parking lot infront of the building at 1am this passed friday night AND a drunk old man that lives down the way decided to try to mediate which made things worse and then a group of neighbors were outside talking loudly until about 2am.

Then the next night the same neighbors decided to play music as loud as they possibly could. I then proceeded to call the police. After the police came and told them to keep it down, the neighbor below decided to start yelling from the patio profanities and threats.

I should NOT be expected to live in this kind of environment. I am not the only tenant who thinks so. My other neighbor and his wife who moved in 3 weeks prior to me are thinking about breaking the lease as well.

There are a sleu of other matters that make this place uninhabitable... The drunken nighbor who tried to mediate the fight the other night is always drunk, other tenants in neighboring buildings like to sit outside and play loud music from their cars at dinner time and I have had the maintenance guys spray for pests 3 times and it hasnt worked.

I'm 27 years old, live in florida, female and living alone and will not put up with this. I havent even been here two weeks. I will go to the Better Business Bureau or something equal to it and create a situation they don't want if they do not cooperate politely.

I apologize if this comes off as rude but I will not live in a potentially disruptive environment.

I have talked to the front office and they are not any help. What is the next step I need to take on this to get my point across?

Any advice on this will help. Thank you.

You can demand, in writing, that management addresses these issues. If no improvements, see if they can negotiate you breaking the lease without incurring the steep penalties for doing so early. Tell them that you are paying for something that was sold to you are a great environment and that has not turned out to be what you expected. Unfortunately, landlords are notorious for not taking complaints seriously. Only when you hit them in their pockets, they pay attention. Hope this helps!

That does help a little thank you. If anyone else could make some suggestions as well that would help too.

Thanks!

I understand the lease says quiet. However you first action is not to breaklease and move. Your first action needs to be to talk to Landlord about problem. See what solution the landlord can offer and give him time to fix problem. Where I agree its an annoyance its hardly something that will allow you to break lease, without penalty, just yet

Does the fact that I haven't been there two weeks have anything to do with it? The apartment has barely been lived in. With the exception of a few holes in the walls from hangin a couple of pictures it is in perfect condition. They would actually not be losing money. It's not like I've been living there for a month or two and then decided to up and move.

The answer to your question is no. Here is why: you have entered a contract for a year lease and that is what you are bound to regardless of the amount of time you have lived in the property. Yes, they will be losing money because they were counting on you year commitment for that unit and if you break the lease, they have to start the process all over again. Sorry, but no way out without talking to your landlord and see if they are open to negotiating the lease break penalties with you or you finding someone else to take over your lease. Good luck to you!
