when i was 15 i had my son and i raised him for the first 10 months of his life but i was having problems with my mother. my mother offered to emancipate me if i gave her custody of my son. so being 15 i did because i didnt fully understand once she got custody i couldnt have him back. and she went behind my back in 2009 and gave custody to my sister which is not my mothers child but my fathers daughter and my son has been with my sister since 2009 living in kentucky and she has full custody. the adoption took place in texas but my son and sister live in kentucky.... i want my child back is there any chance that i could regain custody? thank you to all who respond please dont reply anything mean or offensive. thank you

You will need an attorney to have a fair chance at getting the child back.
But, if you are on good terms with the baby's father, he stands a better chance.

Did the father ever agree to the adoption or temporary custody?

If not, the father could make very BIG trouble for anyone involved in the "adoption".

I don't understand how your mother emancipated you.
Only a court can do that.
Were you legally emancipated, or did mom just not make a stink about you leaving home?

well the father was 20 when i was 14 so my mom pressed charges and later my mom had him sign his rights over. also she was a probation officer so she had friends in the system and i never had to go to court for the adoption or my emancipation but i have the paper that i am legally emancipated.

If the child was legally adopted, you're no longer the parent.

You really, really need an attorney to help you get through this mess and to find out whether it was a change in custody or an actual legal adoption.

There's a huge difference!
