I was rear ended while trying to pass a car two weeks ago, pulled over and the man was acting crazy yelling so I left the scene (plz help I know that was STUPID) pulled over and checked my car and there was no damage so i figured it was no big deal...because he rear ended me!...BIG MISTAKE! I just received a letter from the police that I was involved in a hit and run...I have 2 contact them tomorrow. what can/should i say? again there is no damage 2 my vehicle, not even a scratch! there was no witnesses and no cameras. What are the chances of this going anywhere in the legal system if I claim nothing happened... and if I do attempt to explain this to law enforcement how should I say it?

I should let everybody know that I intend of claiming no knowledge of a collision whatsoever. Obviously my car will be inspected or impounded for investigation, and after they find no evidence of a collision then there is no case... am I right?

Whatever you do, don't lie or stretch the truth.

Your car could have been repaired, is what the police MIGHT conclude.

Before you speak to the police (you don't have to speak to them), you should retain an attorney.

Don't try to fix this yourself, you're way off base here.

You have a constitutional right to remin silent, use it.

Call the police and inform them that you have retained an attorney.

Tell them your attorney will be contacting them about this matter shortly.

Give them the name of your attorney, or just say he/she will be in touch soon!

Then go HIRE a lawyer.

If you do this any other way, you'll regret it!!!!

That makes absolutely no sense.

pulled over and the man was acting crazy yelling so I left the scene

Bad move, but at least you have a semi-legitimate excuse to give if needed.

I just received a letter from the police that I was involved in a hit and run...

Yes, you were.

what can/should i say? again there is no damage 2 my vehicle, not even a scratch!

If anything, say that the dude was acting crazy and you were afraid for your personal safety- HOWEVER, you failed to report the incident yourself, so you are still kinda hosed. If you provide your insurance info as requested then it may just be handled at that level. You only seem to be concerned about the damage to your vehicle, but the other person's vehicle is likely damaged, and you MAY have some responsibility depending on the circumstances. Generally when someone hits you from behind it is going to be their fault, but the way you describe it here sounds fishy....

I should let everybody know that I intend of claiming no knowledge of a collision whatsoever. Obviously my car will be inspected or impounded for investigation, and after they find no evidence of a collision then there is no case... am I right?

You are wrong. Your car will not be taken.
Also, it is better to say nothing at all than to make a false statement to the police. That can open a new can of worms :(
Obviously the other person got your license plate and description of your car... and even though you may not have damage they can possibly match your vehicle to the damage on the other vehicle... and there is very possibly paint from your car on the other vehicle. Don't get yourself into a mess of lies over something so petty.
