I am sorry I do not know the correct Legal Issue category. I need to know what to do in this situation. In 2007 I joined the Army. When the background check was complete it showed my fathers record with multiple felony criminal charges. I know for a fact he has used my SSN on multiple occasions. We have the same exact name on our birth certificates. Also in 2007 a lawyer from El Paso TX came to where I was stationed in KS to question me about money owed on a house purchased in my name when I was 11. As far as I know that was taken care of but I am still receiving letters about property tax on some trailer I have never seen. I am most concerned with the background being incorrect. I have been looking for work since November and just recently remembered this incident and this is probably why I have not received even one call back. Please tell me there is something I can do in this situation. I am more than willing to press charges against my father or whatever it takes.

The opportunity for criminal charges has likely passed. You need to obtain your credit reports and clear up any inaccuracies. Contact the counties that are reporting convictions and ask how to remedy the problem. They will probably want to have you come for fingerprints.

You are free to report the incidents to the local police and see what they say.
You could even contact the FBI and/or the US Secret Service (they handle credit card fraud and identity theft); but putting your dad in prison won't clear up the messes he's made in your life.

You can contact any or all of the three credit bureaus and ask them what you can do to straighten out this mess.

The problem with the credit bureaus, they aren't blameless. They should be required to stop this madness.
It would be an easy fix not to grant credit until the person requesting credit does something affirmative to continue the process. Credit bureaus make it too easy for crooked people to pull this scam. Then they make it too hard for the victim, YOU, to fix it. It ruins lives as much as other crimes, and law enforcement does nothing to pursue the creep, unless the victim is MR BIG OR MS BIG. Sorry, here are some websites of agencies that pretend to do something to help victims. Good luck.
