my fiance bought me a car as a birthday/annaversary/engagement present. He has told this to just about everyone with exception of his parents at first. He had put the majority of the down payment down on the car but i have paid the car payment with exception of maybe 2 payments. I have all docuemented except for the cash that i gave him to cover the down payment. i would have to look at his tax return and bill of sale to know exactly how much that was but it was between 500 to 700. my question is if we split up and i show proof that i have been the one paying the car note and i am the co-signer can i legally keep the car? also is there any way if i take the car even if he doesnt want me to can he report it stolen even though my name is on the loan too? what are my options?

he is primary on the paper work that we signed and i am the co-signer.. the title has not been signed yet. i can call and verify that tho.
