I messed up last week and stole some $6.00 Rohtos from a (dept. store) in Texas. I'm almost eighteen and I've never done anything like this before. Nobody said anything to me as I walked out of the store so I guess what I'm asking is will they find my license plate number and hand it over to the police, or will they just let it go? Should I go back and try to pay for what I took?

The crystal ball is out being cleaned.

We cannot say if they WILL find your license number and give it to the police. What we can say is that they CAN find your license number and give it to the police.

We can't say they even saw you steal anything (we don't know) & if they did see you steal, there is no way we can know if they will or will not find your license plate # & give it to the police if they do find it.

I, of course, can't say for sure but if they saw you steal, they "most likely" would have stopped you as you left the store.

I have worked in retail theft for a long time and have consulted for retailers and people like yourself over issues just like yours. 1st off if the store was aware of the theft they would have stopped you at time. Where it is possible they could stumble upon the theft later its unlikely they will go to the effort to try to ID you over such a small theft. Now if they do become aware and you go back to store they could arrest you. If guilt is getting to you send the money anonymously

More than likely you got away with this one.

Now, STOP STEALING, don't ever steal anything again.

Shut up about this and that, and quit tripping over your guilt.

That said, you have a conscience, so stop and think if you get that URGE to steal.

THINK, is this cheap piece of Chinese made $10.00 JUNK worth the permanent stain on my pristine criminal record, the embarrassment, the shame, and the grief?

No, NOTHING is worth that, so STOP.

You can enroll in HONESTY classes, STOP STEALING CLASSES, support groups, or talk to a mental health professional.

But, its easy, just STOP STEALING!!!!!
