I have a general ordeal. I sold a car to my distant cousin, put the car in his name, and he signed papers ( a contract ) stating that he owes me so much money and when the car will be paid off by and how much the monthly payments are. Since i put the car in his name, had him sign all the papers he has moved to florida. advice anyone?

Sue him in Florida for the amount of money he owes you.

The SeniorJudge is right. You have to sue in Florida. But I would advise you play it calm with him and so that you can get his new address. It would be most important for him to be served when you sue. If they can't locate him, the case would not go further. He has to be served in person for a court date to be scheduled. If the money is not much, you could use a small claims court. If you win the case, he would pay all your legal fees and expenditures related to the case. If he does not pay, any property in his name would be seized and sold by the sheriff's office once you do the formalities and mail them the court order. In some states like Texas, you can put it on his credit report. Get copies of the relevant paper work from the dealers and your contract with him. If you have witnesses, then it is even better.
