Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft illinois 19yr court and criminal record.

okay. i was caught shoplifting tonight. i was already outside when a guy ran out and told me to follow him. and i did. when i got in there. they were very straight forward. and i was very defensive. they told me they had me on camera picking out all the items handing them to an associate to put in a fitting room. and when i left the fitting room, it was clear items were missing. the cops came watched the tape and then searched my bag and found the stuff. they handcuffed me. took me to the station. took my picture, fingeprinted me. and told me i was being charged with a misdemeanor, then let me go.

i know i need to look into getting a lawyer. i just have been top nervous to tell my mom yet. i just need any advice. any possible excuses that will help me avoid jail time (which is what i'm most scared of). and ultimately get it off my criminal record. ASAP.

yeah, i know i shouldn't have done it and everything. but it happened, now i just need to figure it out.

oh and my court date isn't til early may.

1st offense petty theft (shoplifting) rarely carries jail time. Far as criminal record goes ask your Attorney if diversion is available in your case
