Many landlords/managements do not allow their tenants to put up pools because of the potential of being sued should something happen if neighborhood children wander in and drown in such pools. Unfortunately, this certainly has happened.

It's even more dangerous if your backyard does not have a fenced in area to keep neighborhood children out.

thanks gail for the input. I am aware of the safety hazards, which is another reason i'm willing to fence the entire area, safe and unseen, but still have the same questions.

If you violate the "association" rules you can be evicted. Is it worth it?
