I'm being taken to court over a review.

I was previously employed with a small restaurant. I posted on a forum how they were violating health codes and the general sanitation conditions there. They are not happy. I assume already that the fact that I was going to do something like this before i got fired is not even important. I need to know what I should do to prepare and what they can possibly try to stick me with. Many thanks.

If they can show that your post caused them damages you have a problem. Especially in your claims cannot be proved

slander is spoken or gestured as a substitute for speach
Elements:
1. a defamatory statement by the defendant
2. of and concerning the plaintiff
3. publication
4. damages
5. causation

Did you state an opinion, or a fact?
If just an opinion, no worries

If you stated a fact, can you prove it?
If yes, no worries.

Did something/someone else contribute to the alleged harm of the plaintiffs reputation?
May mitigate or absolve your liability.

Can they prove you made the statement?

In my opinion, it's hard for a plaintiff to prevail in a defamation suit. but i'm not an attorney, and i suggest you consult with one.
