My boyfriend was arrested for a bench warrant without a bail. He saw a judge and the judge gave him a $600 fine to pay to get release from jail. Does this fine has to be paid to the jail or to the court?

In most cases, the jail can accept the payment.

Call the facility and ask.

If they accept it, they always accept cash, usually no personal checks, sometimes money orders, and of course, many facilities will accept credit and debit cards!!!!

The jail wouldn't accept it. They said it has to be paid to the court. This is in Mississippi btw.

Yes, some jails can't accept any payments, or certain payments.

The bad thing in your case, unless the court holds a weekend or Saturday session, you can't take care of this until Monday.

Whatever you do, don't discuss anything (or allow him to discuss anything) but pleasantries or niceties over the telephone.

They monitor and record those conversations, so anything said about CERTAIN STUFF can be used against someone in a court of law.

Talk about our jobs, the weather, how much you love each other, just nice stuff, nothing else.

So, sorry, but now you have to wait.

There are quite a few times when someone gets a bench warrant without bail & they are held in jail until they are able to appear in court again.
