My employer forged my signature on a letter that he sent to his mortgage company to co-sign on a car for a friend. I have a copy of the letter and have spoken to the both my boss and the mortgage company itself. My boss stated that the reason he did it was because I knew they were talking to the mortgage company and knew what was in the letter. I did know that they were talking to the mortgage company as I was asked to verify his employment with us. However I was not aware of any letter or its contents until I heard a voicemail from the mortgage company asking me to call them back. When I talked with them they asked me about the letter and I stated that I was not aware of it. When I got a copy of it I saw that everything in the letter completely contradicted what I had stated to the mortgage company on the phone. Now my question is what I can I do about this, should I file a suit, and if so what kind?

Mortgage companies do not do car loans. So I assume you are talking about a finance company or a bank. I would notify the financial institution by certified mail that you did not sign their lending documents and you will not abide by any agreement they supposedly have with you. They will send you a fraud affidavit. Sign it, return it, and let them handle the rest.

Update

My employer said that it was for a car loan, but the letter is too a mortgage company. So I am assuming that he lied to me on that end. Just wanted to update and clear a few things.
