Incorrect Vehicle Code on Notice to Appear

My question involves a traffic citation from the state of: California

I received a ticket for running a stop sign. Upon reviewing the "Notice to Appear," an incorrect vehicle code number is cited. It lists code #21453(A), which deals with running a red light, not running a stop sign.

According to my research, the correct code for a stop sign violation should have been 22450. This was a residential area/street with absolutey no traffic signal.

Does the fact that the wrong vehicle code is cited make my contesting the ticket by Written Delaration a strong case, as there is no traffic signal at this intersection/on this street, or is this a mistake that is no big deal? The officer did note in his verbiage about running the stop sign.

Looking forward to your responses and experiences.

Thank you.

Stop Sign, red light -- whatever-- issue is you didnt stop-- I doubt you will get out from under this-- just handle it

Yes, unless amended prior to trial (or TBWD), the incorrect code section can and should result in a dismissal of the citation.

Could there have been a red light a few blocks away where he might have thought you failed to stop?
