We signed a year lease, lived there for 5 mos and had to move out of town due to a job promotion. At first the landlord was agreeable, we let him show the home before moving and things seemed fine. We moved (and left the home cleaner than it was when we moved in) and now he is hounding us for more money since he hasn't rented the home yet. While letting him show the home befor moving, he was quoting people $200 more/mo than what we were paying. This is well above fair market value for the home. He also charged first, last and security deposit of $600 each. A friend told me that here in AZ it is illegal to charge more than 1.5 times the monthly rent for deposits. He is threatening court action and I am wondering if he has grounds to do so?
