Hello,

I recently made a request to the condominium corporation that governs our complex to make a hole in the ceiling of my warehouse such that I could install a stack to vent heat from one of my manufacturing units. The emissions are invisible, odorless, and were approved by the EPA. I included in my request that I would restore the roof back to its original condition upon exiting the unit. I also included all technical specifications.

I received an email last week from the Condo's property manager, indicating that they have rejected my request. I have asked "why?" and since have not received a response.

I feel I am being discriminated against. Other unit owners in the complex were granted permission to install almost identical venting stacks (ie: paint booths), which I noted prior to purchasing the unit. Also, there is no mentioning in the status certificate of what is and isn't an acceptable alteration. Only that condominium corporation approval is required. How is it fair that other unit owners are being permitted to have exhaust stacks, and I am not?

I would like some legal opinion if possible. Thanks in advance.

We give guidance and common sense advice.

We don't have attorney-client relationships, so that advice should not be used as a legal opinion.

If you want a legal opinion, hire an attorney.

Those Nazi condo boards (or HOAs) are notorious for screwing one tenant and stroking another one.

However, there is very little you can do to beat them.

I advise folks not to rent or buy where those demons exist.
