my brother and i were speeding. now i also dont think i waas going as fast as the cop says and i cant find where it says he used a radar. but anyways main thing is..
we were speeding, my brother in his car and me in my car. the cop had pulled us both over, when he came back with the tickets, we signed them. i was so mad i didnt even look at what i was signin. later, when i was lookin over the ticket, i noticed that he wrote me a ticket for what he said i was at fault for but the info was wrong.

the cop mustve switched our drivers licences up when writing the tickets (what did he think, all asains look alike?) he had wrote my brothers name and info and licence number on my ticket and i signed it and vice versa on my brothers. when we recived the letters of our trial date in the mail i got the lesser of the two tickets which shouldve been my brother ticket and he got my more expesive ticket.

now what can i do. i will go to court tommorow and if the tropper isnt there i will get up and ask for a dissmissal. if the tropper is there i will either walk out and post the fine and schedual a new court date or ask the judge for what ever the word for postponing a court date is. im not gonna try to contest it with my brother there, because im afriad they will jsut reissuse the tickets proporly. i figure if we schedual it so we have different court dates we can contest it and since my brother isnt there they cant take the violation info and reissue it.
what can i do and what should i do. does it matter if were there together? help would be great, thanks

Signing the ticket is really immaterial. You both received one so it is extremely doubtful that the judge will dismiss. You are correct that even if he does the officer can reissue the tickets although this is rare unless you made him mad for some reason. You are responsible for the ticket with your name on it.

You don't give the statute number of the violations or any details so there is not much I can add. Posting the fine and getting a new court date means that you lose your chance at online traffic school. Here is a link for California speeding tickets.
