My Scottish husband and I (an American citizen), were married in Atlanta GA about a year and a half ago. 6 months ago, I found hard evidence he was cheating. He got a job in London and moved there (with my blessing) about a month after he was caught. After intensive therapy (for the months he was here), I decided I would go to London and try to work things out.
It's just not going to happen. Been here 3 months and I can do it no longer. I will possibly move to Boston, but not sure if there are things I need to do over here in London before I go. He does not know this yet as he is returning in two days which when I will tell him.
No children but 4 cats. Assets are all in his name. My name officially changed in the US to his name. My passport is the only document with my maiden name. I have a 2 year spousal visa.
I just need a starting point, but have none at the moment. I want to protect myself and understand my rights. I am all alone in this big city and need some help.
Thank you.

You should speak with a solicitor or barrister in The UK, before you do anything.
You will have a very hard (if not IMPOSSIBLE) time divorcing him the US.
I could bore you with a long, legal explanation about due process, notice, service, etc..., but I won't.
The bottom line is that it would be easier for you to obtain a divorce in The UK.

You might be best served to speak with a solicitor, before you speak with your "soon to be EX".
The solicitor could provide you costs, time frames, what to expect as you TRY to divorce this cad.
He/she will instruct you as to the best way to attempt to erase this stain from your life.
Be advised, that divorce laws vary from country to country.

Good luck, and I hope you can receive your divorce at a fair cost and in a reasonable time frame!
