Intestate

A father with 3 adult children died without a will - how will the Iowa INTESTATE law divide the estate. Will the children also be responsible for any outstanding debt? Will his fiance have any legal rights to his estate? His finance lives in his house - does she have any legal rights to the property? They have lived there for 2 months & have no minor children. Does an IOWA IPERS retirement account need to go thru an estate hearing before distribution?

The children will split the estate three ways but one of them will have to start probate. The fiance gets nothing but the personal representative may have to evict her. The estate is responsible for debts. A retirement account goes to the beneficiary or if none into the estate.
