Inventory Question of a Will

My Dad died several years ago, and my Mom died this past year. Mom collected antique sculptures before she met my Dad. She kept them in the basement when they got married because they did not go with the house. Over the years Mom and Dad would get into fights and Dad would threaten to throw out the sculptures when Mom was away at her medical conventions. Mom got scared and around 1987 moved all the scultpure to my cousins house to keep them away from my Dad. Well Mom retired over 10 years ago and then Dad died. She never did anything about the sculptures even though the threat of Dad was long gone. Now Mom died and in the will it just says to split up her belongings by her 2 kids. However my sister found an inventory list in my Moms papers that said, Mary Ann's scultpure collection. It has about 40 pieces, the sizes, the artist etc. The list is dated a few years before the will was written. My Mom did not sign it, witness it etc.

We told my cousin about the list. He laughed and said our Mother told him over 10 years ago to keep the sculptures since he has had them so long. He then says a there are a few pieces on the list that our Mom picked out, but he actually bought. He said he has the cancelled checks somewhere.

The entire collection could be worth anywhere from $50,000 to $200,000. It is not in the will, but since our mom wrote out a detailed inventory list and kept it in the same folder as her will, that she meant for the scultpures to be included?

So my question is, does this inventory list, although unsigned, and not referenced in the will, have any validitity?

I'm guessing your mom's name was Mary Ann?

Sure, the list has some validity. The question is whether it has more validity as proof of ownership of the sculptures than your cousin's assertion that she gave it to him as a gift and/or that he paid for some of it and has cancelled cheques. My gut tells me a court would be reluctant to interfere with your cousin's possession of the sculptures after 10 years and not a peep from your mom about reclaiming them.
