Alcohol & Drugs: MIP, MIC, Intoxication is 17 old enough

i live in michigan and i am seventeen years old. i recently recieved an mip and i understand that i was completely in the wrong and i have every intention of pleading guilty. my parents already know so there is nothing to hide. i was just wondering if i am able to appear in court without my parents present because i have read in many places that a seventeen year old can appear in court without the accomapiment of an adult if they are charged with a criminal charge. i am not completely sure if an mip is a criminal offense. so any help or guidance that is offered would be of great help.

If this is CA then you will almost certainly have to appear with your parents.
