Civil rights violations. Filing a class action suit in federal court for injunctive and declaratory relief only. Will demand for punitive damages preclude certification under 23(b)(2)? I would appreciate short reply and web links / references to sources of law.

Sorry, you can Google all that, OP.

We don't do legal research, and we certainly can't teach you federal civil procedure.

I will offer one comment.

Why are you attempting a class action lawsuit? They are generally a waste of time and effort. Class action lawsuits serve lawyers and large law firms. They are money makers for them, and do very little for the true victims and/or the little guys.

You might wish to reconsider what you are trying to accomplish by a lawsuit.

If you're inclined to elaborate, I'd be happy to read your response.

First, I did my research, but some additional input from knowledgeable people of this forum if there are any may be helpful as well. Second, I am surprised to hear such a nonsense about class action lawsuits from a law forum's moderator. Are you his/her boyfriend/girlfriend who was accidentally allowed an access to this forum while the real moderator is having lunch? And finally, when the real moderator is back, why won't he/she simply answer my question if he/she really knows something about the issue?

Well, that closes this matter.
