I put (per Tom Wood Honda of Anderson Indiana request) a $500 deposit down on the new Honda Accord I wanted. Through much (what I call bs) the dealer calls me the next week and asks if I would be interested in a higher priced Accord. At this point I realize this dealer doesn't listen to consumer and only want to cut corners and I do not wish to do business with them. The sales manager said good luck for you won't get your $500 back and have a good day. What a bunch of crooks, what is my rights about the $500 down payment on new car if I decide not to purchase from that dealer, can I get it back or is the crooked car salesman correct and they can keep my $500?

adjusterjack, I signed nothing except for my master card slip that you would get from anyone that runs a debit on your card. Nothing was told me that if I decided not to purchase this auto I would loose the down either. The sales manager was a real creep that laughed and said good luck getting this deposit back.

Try contacting the credit card issuer, dispute the charge because the dealer was unable to deliver the vehicle you desired to purchase.

When you spoke the dealer about the matter, he simply laughed at your demand to return your deposit because of their failure to perform.

In the future, when asked for a deposit, simply say, "Sure, but only for 1¢."

If the seller says no, be smart, say, "Thanks, but no thanks!"

Ain't capitalism great?
