Alcohol & Drugs: MIP, MIC, Intoxication Is it illegal to try and buy drugs?

I was very drunk last night and some guy offered to sell me cannabis. I dont use it but was drunk and thought I'd buy some. They then over the course of about an hour 'persuaded' me to take money out of the cash machine before I eventually managed to get away. I reported it as a mugging to the police, who want to come round today and I guess do a report. Just wondering if I should say I was looking to buy something, or not - if it's not illegal to try and buy then it would make it a lot easier to explain.

You were trying to purchase drugs which is illegal act. However the mugging itself is also illegal. You can file charges but if they catch mugger you can tell them why you were at ATM machine. This "might" prompt action against you as well.

Be aware that many ATM machines have a camera installed.

Was the money they wanted from you to buy the cannabis, beer, what?
