Ok so I am going to court over a case. I recently found out that the lady against me is a probation officer. She claims to have ran my car plates prior to the incident happening. Because I drive by her house to drop friends off at their friends house. I used to talk them there about ten times a months to go and visit with their friends and stuff. Anyway the question is "is it legal for her to run plates for her own personal use?"

"is it legal for her to run plates for her own personal use?"

That question will be decided at trial, assuming she's on trial for that particular offense.

If, on the other hand, you're on trial; nothing she is alleged to have done would in anyway be relevant to your defense, than the assertion, "The devil made me do it!"
If your defense involved asserting she abused the NCIC system for personal amusement or gain, I'd rethink that.
Why?
Its not relevant, nor is it in anyway probative.

If she ran your plates for her PERSONAL use, how did it end up in a criminal case against you? And did she "run" your plates, or merely take note of them?

Yes, it is against the law to run plates for PERSONAL use ... however, running them for any form of official use is perfectly legal. And making note of plates is legal under most every all circumstance I can think of.

It's hard to know what you mean by "personal" use.
