Is it legal for an employer to e-mail your timecard info to others?

So I work at an homeowners association. I work for a management company(UNC) that is employed by the Board of Directors here. So I am officially a UNC employee not an employee of the HOA.

So here's my concern, the board has a treasurer that when we turn in our time cards he goes over them a second time to make sure the times are right. Well just this past weekend he e-mailed the owner of UNC and told him that the board wouldn't reembursh our salaries if we didn't punch in and out everyday(he doesn't have any authority in this matter) Well this morning he took and e-mailed all 3 employees time card copies out to all board members........

Now is there some kind of privacy law or something he has broken by doing this? Any help or info on this would be great thanks

None that I know of, because even if this happened to be protected information, the board is responsible for paying your salaries.

I'd be more worried about being terminated because none of you want to punch in as directed.

Of course that isn't illegal, but it sure can get you terminated.

actually the board pays the management company not me directly and with a board of directors everything must be done at the meetings by majority.....also where we work, we actually work and have to deal with homeowners the second we come in so its very easy to forget and all timecards are ok'd by management....so naw i don't think i'll be worrying bout being fired...

Also please don't respond to a post in which you have no knowledge of the laws that may be involved

With the exception of some medical information, you have next to no expectation of privacy in the workplace.

No, there were no privacy laws, and no laws of any other type, violated here.

It could only be illegal if the document contained your entire SSN. Maybe.

However, you must be paid for all time worked. If there is a punch missing, the manager/supervisor should be fixing that. They can't just not pay you.
