I went to a grocery store I bought a lot of stuff and I went to the registry. I took everything from the shopping cart in which I had my purse and a coffee and personal belongings. The person at the registry handed me the bag and I put it back the cart. When I picked up all the stuff from the cart there was a little piece of cheese on the cart. Honestly, I didn't know if I had paid for it or not but since it was in the cart I took everything and I was about to leave the store when the LP and the security guard stopped me and brought me to the office. THey said I had a suspicious attitude because earlier in the shop I left an item that I ordered from the deli department in a remote place ( I changed my mind). So even if I tried to explained myself they accused me of shoplifting. I got really nervous but I cooperated with everything they asked me. They took my picture and a copy of my ID. They made me sign a form in which they were banning me from the store and there was the price of the unpurchased piece of cheese (arounf $5) and probalbly I was agreeing on not having paid the item. I asked If I had to pay anything else and they told me no. I didn't know anything about civil demands at that point because I never thought I would found myself in that situation, and they didn't mention anything about it. The police was not involved at all. They walked me out of the store, paid for the item and go, promising not coming back. I was so nervous and shocked that I couldn¡t read exacly what I signed but I have been reading everything on the web, and it seems that everybody who got civil demands was informed about it.
I can't not think about anything else. I feel so embarrased about the whole situation and I don't know what to expect. I know that nobody knows how long it will take for the store to send a civil demand or what is going to happen but I'd like to know if it is possible that they don't send anything since they didn't tell me?
