My ex and I have a account together I was working he wasn't we didn't have the bank cards at the time only check bookshe knew I didn't have any money in the account.i always went with him when he wrote the checks .the only money that was in there was the hundred I put in to start the account . First check we wrote we had theo money in the bank for it. The last time a check was written was when I wasn't with him and he went and bought some things and there was no money in the bank at that time he wrote a check in my name and I didn't know about it till I got a letter about it.i have been the one paying it off for the past 4 months now and he only helped once .now he won't help me at all and I don't have a job to keep paying it but he has. Job and won't help

If it was a joint account, you are both responsible. They can come after either or both of you in order to try & collect.

From a civil perspective, you are both responsible for the outstanding balance on the account.
If, he signed (forged) yoru name, then he's possibly committed a crime (or crimes).
I suggest you report him to the police.
The police will investigate, and if he did commit fraud, you'll probably get off the hook.
The authorities will go after him, and if you present the police report to the bank, they may also absolve you of any further responsibility for his misdeeds.
